Locarno is to find in the north, where the lake Maggiore belong to Switzerland, blending the best of Swiss and Italian cultures – the warmth of Italy with the efficiency of Switzerland,. The region, for his mild and pleasant climate, has been named "sunny terrace of Switzerland".
The quietest people can get pleasure from a walk along the beautiful lakeside promenade, through the subtropical gardens and through the historic centre, or can relax on one of the many lakeside cruises to the islands: Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori, Isola Bella or the nearest Isola de Brissago.

The near city of Ascona is a popular tourist destination, and holds the popular "New orleans Jazz Festival" in June.
Locarno and Ascona have a very good selection of restaurants.

In summer there are many open air concerts.
An holiday in Locarno means enjoy the beach and watersports including sailing, surfing and water skiing.

Come in August for the "International Film Festival" in Piazza Grande,with beside his multietnic party in the middle of the big roundabout.
